Noureen Hashim-Jiwani
Noureen Hashim-Jiwani serves as the Senior Policy Advisor (Head of Policy) at the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS), where she functions as the agency's chief policy executive, designing systems that embed equity into government operations and ensuring government serves all Illinoinians effectively. She is the Founder and CEO of NHJ CivicBridge, a civic consulting firm dedicated to building equitable systems that meet the unmet needs of our communities. She brings senior leadership experience in community organizing and academic civic leadership development and has led the adoption of significant policy priorities at both the county and city-level government.
She is an elected council member for a local school council in Chicago Public Schools and serves as a Commissioner on the Illinois Commission for Volunteerism and Community Service, appointed by Governor JB Pritzker. As a volunteer, she serves as the Board Member for Ismaili CIVIC, a faith-based community partner committed to improving local communities nationwide through service and civic engagement. She is also on the boards for Care for Real, ChiGivesBack, Planned Parenthood of Illinois, and the Illinois Muslim Civic Coalition. She also serves as the service and inclusion member for Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board, promoting positive youth development across the ages of 6 through 24.
Prior to her current role, she served as the First Deputy of Policy (Head of Policy) to Mayor Brandon Johnson; Chief of Staff at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics; as Deputy Chief of Staff to Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer; and as the Global Youth Strategy Lead for Ismaili CIVIC.
