Gwyndolyn Moss
Gwyndolyn Moss is a lifelong learner and professional teaching artist. She grew up in Elburn, Illinois, and has a background in fine arts, and various levels of formal and informal education.
Gwyn is honored to be the Executive Director at Illinois AfterSchool Network (IAN). IAN is a statewide nonprofit established in 1986 serving the needs of
the out of school time staff. IAN provides vast professional development training opportunities on various topics to support youth. IAN is the proud state affiliate of National AfterSchool Association. IAN allows her to work with thousands of expanded learning spaces staff across the state of Illinois. Gwyn has been actively engaged within the afterschool field since 2008. Beginning her career as direct service staff and later moving into administration, she shares her passion for connecting youth with meaningful opportunities to grow and thrive.
During graduate school, Gwyn found a passion in exploring career options through volunteering in the community. Specifically volunteering in the Chicago Cabrini Green Tutoring Center and at the Around the Coyote Arts nonprofit organization. These experiences set the tone for working with youth and embracing the vast opportunities available to engage and learn in the expanded learning space.
Prior to working for IAN, Gwyn was the Teen Program Director at Concordia Place, a multigenerational nonprofit in Chicago. Spending fifteen years with teens and youth was a privilege. Time spent with teens shaped her perspective of building resilient structures that offer opportunities for youth to have hands-on experiential learning, including volunteering. This strong belief links back to the need for actively increasing volunteering opportunities for youth and adults. Additionally, for four years she was a teaching faculty member for humanities working with adult learners at University of Phoenix (Loop Campus). Gwyn is a proud member of the Chicago Women in Philanthropy group. Gwyn lives in Deerfield with her charismatic husband and dynamic preschool daughter.
