James Dixon

Jim Dixon is a Labor Activist and Community Organizer in Springfield. He is a member of AFSCME Subchapter 86, serves on the Board of Faith Coalition for the Common Good and on the Executive Committee of the Springfield Branch NAACP. Jim is AFSCME Subchapter 86’s delegate to Springfield & Central Illinois Trades & Labor Council which encompasses 10 Counties in central Illinois. He previously served as President and Vice-President of SCILTLC. He is also a former Vice-President of AFSCME Local 2600 Faith Coalition for the Common Good is a 501C3 in Springfield working for social and economic justice in the Community.

Jim serves on the Board and is a member of the Jobs Task Force working to secure career employment providing a living wage for minorities and women in the community. Jim and his wife are founding members of Bereaved Parents of the USA and he is a former President of this nationwide organization dedicated to helping parents following the death of a child. They served as Chapter Leaders of the Springfield, IL Chapter for 25 years doing monthly support group meetings for bereaved parents in the community.
